About ProcureWise
What does a procurement consultant do?
A procurement consultant helps organisations buy better: choosing and vetting suppliers, writing procurement policies, negotiating contracts, managing supplier performance and staying compliant with legislation such as the PFMA and B-BBEE codes. ProcureWise does this for businesses across Gauteng.
Where is ProcureWise Consulting based?
We are based in Alberton in Ekurhuleni, Gauteng, and serve clients in Alberton, Johannesburg, Pretoria, the East Rand and the rest of Gauteng. We also support clients elsewhere in South Africa.
Do you offer procurement consulting in Johannesburg and Pretoria?
Yes. From our base in Alberton we provide procurement consulting and procurement strategy support to organisations across Gauteng, including Johannesburg, Pretoria (Tshwane), Ekurhuleni and the East Rand.
What is procurement strategy consulting?
Procurement strategy consulting means designing how an organisation sources and buys — which suppliers to use, how to structure contracts, how to manage risk and how procurement supports wider goals such as cost savings and B-BBEE transformation. It is the starting point for most ProcureWise engagements.
What industries do you work with?
Our services are modular and adaptable for industrial, logistics, manufacturing and professional service environments, as well as public entities that must comply with the PFMA.
How much procurement experience does ProcureWise have?
Our founder and principal consultant, Leon Beyleveld, has over 20 years’ procurement experience across various sectors, covering strategic sourcing, B-BBEE compliance, PFMA-aligned policy drafting, spend visibility and ESD implementation.
How can procurement improve our B-BBEE score?
Preferential procurement and enterprise and supplier development (ESD) are key elements of the B-BBEE scorecard. Correctly classifying suppliers, buying from empowering suppliers and running effective ESD initiatives can all improve your score. We help with each of these.
Do you only work with large companies?
No. We work with local SMEs as well as national enterprises. Our services are modular, so you only use the support you need.

Supplier Vetting & Compliance Audits
About this serviceWhat does supplier vetting check?
We verify a supplier’s company registration (CIPC), tax compliance (SARS), labour compliance (UIF and COIDA), occupational health and safety (OSH) obligations, sector licences where applicable, and their B-BBEE status. Each supplier is then scored against a vendor matrix and classified by risk.
Why does supplier vetting matter for B-BBEE?
Your preferential procurement score depends on the B-BBEE status of the suppliers you buy from. Incorrectly classified or non-compliant suppliers can reduce your score, so accurate supplier classification protects your B-BBEE level.
Can you vet our existing supplier base, not just new suppliers?
Yes. We can audit your current vendor list, flag gaps and risks, and segment suppliers so you know which relationships need attention first.
Procurement Policy Drafting
About this serviceWhat is a PFMA-aligned procurement policy?
The Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) governs how public entities in South Africa manage and spend money. A PFMA-aligned procurement policy sets out sourcing, approval and contracting rules that are consistent with those requirements.
Do private companies need a formal procurement policy?
There is no single legal requirement for every private company, but a written policy protects the business against fraud and wasteful spending, supports B-BBEE preferential procurement and makes audits far easier.
Do you provide RFQ and tender templates?
Yes. We develop RFP, RFQ, RFI and tender templates, contracting workflows and approval matrices that match your policy, so your team has a consistent process from request to contract.
Negotiation & Contract Management
About this serviceWhat is value-based negotiation?
Value-based negotiation looks beyond the lowest price to total value — quality, service levels, risk, payment terms and long-term cost. It produces deals that hold up over the life of the contract.
What should a supplier SLA include?
A good SLA defines the service to be delivered, measurable performance targets, how performance will be reported and reviewed, and what happens when targets are missed. We design SLAs and performance matrices tailored to each contract.
What is a spend visibility assessment?
It is an analysis of what your organisation buys, from whom and at what cost. It highlights savings opportunities, supplier concentration risks and areas where better contracts would add value.
Training & Facilitation
About this serviceWhat procurement training do you offer?
We offer PFMA and B-BBEE workshops, supplier onboarding and compliance training, OSH integration modules and sector-specific procurement best practice sessions, supported by custom manuals, templates and assessments.
Can training be customised for our organisation?
Yes. Training is modular and adapted to your sector, your policies and your team’s experience level.
Tender Support & Add-On Modules
About this serviceDo you help with tenders?
Yes. We provide bid and tender process support, including the templates and workflows that make tender processes consistent, fair and auditable.
What is procure-to-pay (P2P) process mapping?
Procure-to-pay covers every step from requesting a purchase to paying the supplier. Mapping it reveals delays, duplicate steps and control gaps so the process can be made faster and safer.
What is enterprise and supplier development (ESD)?
ESD is the B-BBEE element that rewards businesses for developing small and black-owned suppliers and enterprises. We advise on planning ESD initiatives that create real value and contribute to your scorecard.
